Look Up, Look Down! | Florence, Italy | Unit 21 | 2023
The primary objective of this project is to delve into innovative approaches for designing an architectural structure that emulates the captivating qualities of astrophotography and satellite imagery. This ambitious goal will be accomplished by exploring the potential of lighting technologies to recreate the immersive experience of imagery within a physical space.
Central to the concept is the creation of an architectural environment that harmoniously transforms with the movement of the Sun. In this vision, light transcends its conventional role of facilitating visibility and evolves into a mesmerizing spectacle in its own right. The interplay of light and space will be meticulously choreographed to provide a visually enchanting experience akin to the admiration of a painting. This project also acknowledges the rich historical context of Florence, particularly its Renaissance heritage. It draws inspiration from the profound advancements in astronomy and cartography that flourished during this era, paving the way for contemporary iterations such as astrophotography and satellite imagery. By paying homage to this legacy, this project aspires to encapsulate the spirit of innovation and discovery that defined Florence’s past.
