Collision/National Assembly | Turin, Italy | Unit 21 | 2018
Turin was once the capital city of Italy and was one of the largest automobile manufacturing cities in the world. Turin was a target of strategic bombing during World War II, being heavily damaged in its industrial areas by the air raids. In the postwar years, Turin was rapidly rebuilt. e city’s automotive industry played a pivotal role in the Italian economic miracle of the 1950s and 1960s, attracting hundreds and thousands of immigrants to the city, particularly from the rural southern regions of Italy.
The project is a speculative project based on the current political scene in Italy. As the anti-establishment party, Five Star Movement won the general election on 4th, March, 2018, their ideology will be pushed forward. e project is aiming to provide a strong link between the public and
the politicians to establish a democratic example. e building consists of various transformable space that o ers for different scenarios to allow the public to participate and to bring input to the parliament. e design of the building is revolved around four different scenarios for public impute; which are Law Making, Petition, Scrutiny and Protest. Each scenario takes place in dedicated designed space for the public to engage with politicians.

The initial project consists of various experimentation on re-interpreting movement. The main focus of the study was conducted in the concourse of Euston Station: a study of crowd movements in public space. The moving and non-moving subjects in the station were the two subjects to be analyzed. Through series of documentation, the two subjects show strong interlocked relationship which one effect the other. The project was concluded with a piece of device to stimulate a subject moving through a public space. The device illustrates a single moving subject can cause a chain reaction to the crowds and each time the result will varies base several factors. Time, speed, chosen direction will have a massive impact on the outcome of the situation.
