Andrew Porter


Andrew graduated from the Bartlett in 1994. He was jointly awarded the Bannister Fletcher Medal and Prize for best Bartlett Diploma (MArch Architecture Pt 2) project jointly with Abigail Ashton for their ‘Mechanical Landscapes’ project.

Andrew has taught at the Bartlett since 1996. He has previously taught in the MArch GAD (Graduate Architectural Design) programme with Sir Peter Cook and the BSc Architecture programme. He has also co-ordinated and directed the MArch GAD programme. He was Visiting Professor at the Staedel Academy in Frankfurt under the Directorship of Enric Miralles.

Andrew is also currently Deputy Director of the Post Professional Masters Programmes & B-Pro (Bartlett Prospective), which includes the MArch GAD (Graduate Architectural Design) and MArch UD (Urban Design) programmes.

Andrew is a partner at Ashton Porter Architects. The practice has won a number of international competition prizes, including the winning entry for the ‘Hakka Museum and Culture Park’ in China and a number of national awards for built projects in the UK. These include recently the New London Architecture ‘Don’t Move, Improve’ Award 2012 and the Grand Designs Best Extension 2012. APA was finalist in the BD Small Project Architect of the Year 2012 and AJ Small Building of the Year 2014.
