The Floating Procession | Venice, Italy | Unit 21 | 2020 <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project aims to use loopholes in laws created by Venice\u2019s dependence on water transport to allow greater autonomy in the way the city is inhabited. The project references processions in 16th Century Venetian Republic as an outward manifestation of the workings of the government at the time. This project proposes a fleet of unique boats that follow different processions and configure differently in sites across Venice making the canals and waterways inhabitable. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A procession forming a floating market aims to alleviate Venice\u2019s strict \u2018no eating or sitting in non-designated public space\u2019 policy. A procession constructing a canal concert space avoids Venice\u2019s strict light and noise pollution laws while the creation of an artificial beach and swimming pool targets laws against swimming in the canals and building sandcastles in the Venice region. A final configuration of the boats forms a circular pathway or processional as a space for processions to return to the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\"
