Typologically, Copenhagen is a collection of lands reclaimed from water.\u00a0 Copenhagen is known as the \u201cVenice of the North\u201d.\u00a0 The project is essentially a proposal for the future of Copenhagen.\u00a0 Proposing how the city may expand on water reclaiming land and retaining the water.\u00a0 The project proposes time-based landscape as an extension of the city of Copenhagen, bridging two sides of the water.\u00a0 The proposal also contributes to the infrastructure of the city connecting and providing harbour bus stop.\u00a0 The main bridge can open up and the floating bar can float away to widen the harbour access.<\/p>\n

The landscape is time-based which transforms with seasons and tidal changes.\u00a0 There are two typologies, floating and fixed where the floating elements transform the landscape accordingly to the need and the season.\u00a0 The time-based landscape sits on the water, connecting the Royal Danish Playhouse and the Royal Opera house.\u00a0 Certain areas are accessible during low tide creating different experience to the visitors.\u00a0The landscape also offers outdoor stages for various opera productions and theatres.\u00a0 There are couples of auditoriums.\u00a0 The main auditorium can rotate to fit various conditions for flexible stages on water, or temporary stages on the core.\u00a0 A smaller auditorium is designed for Rusalka, Czech opera based on a similar story of the little mermaid.\u00a0 The stages for Rusalka consist of two stages for Act 1&3, and for Act 2.\u00a0 The stages are designed with specific materials to represent each act.\u00a0 Act 1 & 3 are set on a meadow in which the stage is designed by rough stone texture surrounded by timber logs to represent the forest.\u00a0 Act 2 is set on a castle represented by red brick material for the facades and copper for the roof structures.<\/p>\n

There are other platforms, and structures, which are designed to offer flexible usage for potential and temporary stages and outdoor events.\u00a0 The project is based on the concept of discovering over time.\u00a0 So the time-based landscape offers various experiences to the visitors depending on the program of the opera and the performance, the tidal change, and the season.\u00a0 It is a landscape which camouflages almost as the solid land of Copenhagen and can only be discovered as collection of elements that come together through magical calligraphy, as circulation link, when one walks on the walkways, connecting two sides of the water, or when one lies on the floating park, realises the subtleness of the scheme.<\/p>\n
