All’s Well That Ends Well | Florence, Italy | Unit 21 | 2023
Inspired by the history of local weather research and development in Florence, the project takes the Fondazione Osservatorio Ximeniano and the Museo Galileo as its main references to envisage a new meteorological observatory, research and meteorological history archive centre on the north bank of the Arno River. In this vision, the centre would serve local residents, tourists, climate researchers and a new generation of artists, responding to the context of Florence as a tourist city, while incorporating local history. This centre will provide visitors with a place to experience Florence’s meteorological history, climate change and a vision of the future, while also providing an exhibition space for data-generated art, land art and other artistic styles.
The project focuses on making the relatively invisible and imperceptible atmosphere visible and tangible. The design concept of the building is influenced by existentialism and the local climate data of Florence.
