‘Depositing Bodies of Data’ explores how data can be encrypted within a site to respond to climatic instabilities. Addressing the rising risk of flooding in the Ebre Delta, it proposes an inhabitable dunescape that harmonises with nature, to protect the regions culturally and economically vital rice farming industry. The project aims to develop a new architectural language by encrypting weather data into the site through sonification, creating interventions that orchestrate the movement of sand along the beaches. More than just a construction project, the ‘Dune Catcher’ is a blend of precision and fluidity, choreographing a dance between computation and elemental forces. It celebrates the balance between the complexities of weather and the meticulousness of architectural computation, evolving with nature’s whims. This proposal transcends the mere act of protection: it embodies radical thinking of coastal management, becoming a lexicon that speaks fluently the dialects of nature and technology. |
